President's Message 2006/07 - THE REVOLUTION STARTS IN WINDSOR! We want Company Adjusters. The backbone of the O.I.A.A. is made up of company adjusters. In any given WP issue you will find over 75% of the new members consisting of company adjusters. Yet the majority of those attending our events are independent adjusters. Further, the majority of all the chapter executives and the provincial executive, is made up of independent adjusters. Where are the company adjusters? We want you. Our service providers want you. Even the independent adjusters want you! This has been the goal of the Windsor Chapter. We hope with more educational seminars we can continue to achieve this goal. Last year our kick-off was in September with our annual membership drive. Johnny Shotz was the venue for some billiards, laughs and story telling. Over 50 members attended as we made sure our members were signed up and aware of our upcoming events. We're not just fun and games. In November, Karol Dycha of the law firm Bartlet and Richardes, spoke to our members on the topic of Privilege. It was very informative and adjusters in all lines of claims were able to bring helpful information back to their desks. Our members were transferred into carolers in December. The Christmas lunch had an amazing turnout of over 75 members, including provincial president Steve Martin. Each table had to sing for their lunch. No star was born and we all fortunately returned to our day jobs in claims! Over $900.00 was raised for our Windsor Downtown Mission. What better way to cure the winter blues then with our 2nd annual Chili Cook-off! This event was bigger and better than the first. We had 17 cooks with over 60 members attending to sample some of the finest beans in town. London Chapter had also had a successful cook-off and we look forward to this continued rivalry! In April we were back to business. Keith Edwards of Shumka, Craig and Moore, spoke at our provincial seminar. The topic was Condominium Insurance Coverage - Who owns and insures what? We had a tremendous turnout of over 120 adjusters and brokers. We had always wanted to have an event that could equal the attendance of our golf tournament and this was the ticket! And, finally, our Golf Tournament wrapped up our year in July and was the biggest then ever. The shotgun start featured 2 foursomes on each hole! All holes were sponsored with prizes. This was our first for such a level of attendance and sponsorship for this event. Our service providers had been going through some tough times in the last year but they came through stronger than ever. We greatly appreciate this support. More importantly, we again broke our fund raising record and raised over $1,700.00 for Crime-Stoppers. Once again I can not say how proud I am of our Executive, Debbie Tremblay, Mike Hoffman, Maryanne Debruyn and Ross Potts. Also our recently added Directors Rose Mutch and Grant Hall have made some great contributions. Our team is wonderful to work with and we look forward to working together again in the 2006/07 term. So Claims Managers, tell your staff to join the Revolution. Company Adjusters; tell your Managers you want to be part of the Revolution. It's your Windsor Chapter. It's your O.I.A.A.! Strength and honour, |
